Celebrating
India@75 – AzadikaAmritMahotsav: Beach cleaning activity by High Commission of India in collaboration with the Telugu Association on 25 April 2021

The High Commission of India in collaboration with Telugu Association in Brunei organized a Beach cleaning activity on 25 April 2021 at Silver Jubilee Park, 25 JalanMaulana, Kuala Belait from 8:00 am till 10:00 am as part of activity for celebration of India@75 “AzadikaAmritMahotsav.” More than 150 people of Indian origin and others including members of the High Commission participated in the Beach cleaning activity not only to mark the celebration of India@75 but also propagate “SwachhataAbhiyan-cleanliness as a way of life”, a flagship programme of the Government of India.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri NarendraModi had earlier launched “AzadikaAmritMahotsav” on 12 March 2021 from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad. The AmritMahotsav is a series of cultural events and digital initiatives undertaken by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.  It has been launched exactly 75 weeks before the 75th anniversary of India’s independence., i.e. 15 August 2022, and will be celebrated till 15 August 2023. The celebration during the AmritMahotsav will be inspired by the five pillars of ‘Freedom Struggle’; ‘Achievement at 75’; ‘Ideas at 75’; ‘Actions at 75’; and ‘Resolves at 75’ as the guiding force.

Beach cleaning activity was organized by the High Commission as part of SwachhataAbhiyan and India@75 celebrations as it makes the beach a nicer and safer place for everyone.  It is an effort towards preserving and protecting as well as improvement of the coastal and ocean ecosystem as trash including plastic items harm marine life and disrupt the marine life cycle.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the members of the community who came in large numbers including children to be part of the SwachhataAbhiyan and celebration of India@75.
